Stour Valley Path Ultra - Newmarket (Suffolk)
The Stour Valley Path is a 100km (62 mile) long footpath in England, which starts in Newmarket (Suffolk) and ends in Cattawade, a village near Manningtree (Essex). The SVP100 covers almost the entire length of the well marked trail, and is one of the longest point to point races in East Anglia.
Many of you will remember Susan Hearne, the mother of the Race Director (Matthew), who sadly passed away in September 2021. She loved helping out at the race, in particular looking after runners at the aid stations and handing out medals at the finish. In her final days she was very well cared for by the St. Helena Hospice in Colchester.
The 2022 race, which is our 10th anniversary, will be dedicated to the memory of Susan and we would like to encourage a small number of runners to raise money for the hospice. If you would like to fundraise and commit to raising a minimum of £200, we will refund your £200 entry fee. This way, each runner would be raising a minimum of £200 towards the hospice. Further details about their services and how to set up a fundraising page can be found here: https://www.sthelena.org.uk/how-you-can-help-us/fundraise/how-to-set-up-an-online-fundraising-page - we suggest that you use JustGiving as you can connect Strava to provide updates to your fundraising page. We would kindly ask you to show us that you’ve raised a minimum of £200 in advance of the race by sharing your fundraising page and we will then refund your entry fee.
Thank you in advance from the Matthew and all those who knew Susan.
